Hillary is a geophysicist with over 35 years’ experience in mineral exploration across southern Africa and the Middle East. He co-founded Kavango Minerals and 3D Earth Exploration and has worked with Reunion Mining, Cannister Resources, and Rockover. He has contributed to key gold, chrome, and kimberlite discoveries in Zimbabwe and Botswana.

Alex Gorman, Executive Director

Chief Operating Officer, Zimbabwe

Alex is an economic geologist and former mining analyst at Peel Hunt, where she focused on London-listed gold producers. She previously worked at BMO and Wood Mackenzie across commodities and markets. She joins Kavango’s Executive Team after a year on the board, bringing deep insight and targetted experience into exploration and project evaluation. 

Lorenz Werndle

Executive Director & Chief Financial Officer

Lorenz is a seasoned finance executive with experience spanning mining, strategy, corporate development, and M&A across Africa and international capital markets. He served as CFO of Nasdaq-listed Blue Gold Ltd and was previously Head of Corporate Development at Mwana Africa Plc, where he supported funding, restructuring, and turnaround initiatives of their Zimbabwe assets. He also served as Head of Business Development at Lonrho Plc concluding several business and asset acquisitions across Africa. Earlier in his career, Lorenz advised mining companies on IPOs, fundraisings, and M&A transactions at Ambrian Plc, and on corporate strategies at Accenture.

Most recently Mining Manager at Barrick’s Bulyanhulu Gold Mine, he brings world-class operational and technical expertise to Kavango, with a proven track record in mine planning, ramp-up strategies, and underground hard rock mining leadership.

Tipps oversees Kavango Resources’ businesses in Botswana, where he manages the local teams, ensures operational efficiency, and maintains compliance with legal requirements. With more than 15 years in leadership roles at the Botswana Geological Survey and Botswana Geoscience Institute, Tipps has been instrumental in ensuring alignment and implementation of corporate strategic goals and policies.

During his extensive commercial and executive career spanning 38 years, Tham has held senior positions in various local and international companies including the 3M Company in Zimbabwe, BHP Minerals Zimbabwe Limited, Meikles Hospitality, and Chairman of ZB Financial Holdings Limited. A graduate of Teesside and Manchester Universities (UK), he brings a wealth of local and international commercial experience, as well as in depth knowledge of Zimbabwe’s business and economic environment.
